Two trainings within the second phase of the “Service learning” project were held 2-4th and 9-11th March. Let us remind you that the first training phase was held in December last year and our participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the concept of service learning as well as with research methodology.
Both trainings were attended by 30 students from the Faculty of Political Science, University of Montenegro and Faculty of Visual Arts, University of Mediterranean, and 20 high school students from Podgorica.
In the period between two trainings, participants were doing research within their chosen communities. First day of the training was the opportunity for them to present their work, including methodology, findings and recommendations. The interesting thing about this phase is the variety of topics and communities all ten of the groups have chosen to deal with. Researches were implemented within groups of high school students, elementary school students, Roma community, asylum seekers, women, users of psychoactive substances, etc.
Second and third day were dedicated to the process of developing project proposal. They had the opportunity to learn more about project cycle, project writing, defining aims and objectives, indicators and means of verification, developing monitoring and evaluation plan, as well as with the budgeting process. All together ten project ideas were developed during both trainings. Our participants will be dealing with prevention of drug abuse, greater social integration of immigrants, youth activism, cooperation between schools, Roma youth, cultural needs of youth, traffic, etc. Service learning projects are to be implemented within the following three months.
